We need people with knowledge, preferably but not limited, in the scientific disciplines of Neurosciences, Plant Sciences, Physiology, Pharmacology, Oncology, Cancer Studies, Microbiology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Stem Cell Research, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Health Sciences, Medicine, Public Health, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Protection, Food Sciences.
Interdisciplinary candidates are highly preferred.
Education Experience Requirements:
Candidates with B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees in above scientific fields or related disciplines are qualified to apply. No previous experience is required.
However, the following background is preferred:
- Work experience in the private sector/research institute/university
- Evidence of quality publications using NMT:Non-invasive Micro-test Technology
- Good presentation skills
- Professional competence and scientific leadership to solve a wide range of challenging research problems in imaginative ways
- Highly motivated and capable of independent research
- Knowledge of state-of-the art principles and concepts in various Omics
- Familiarity with electrophysiology (i.e. Patch Clamp) and fluorescence microscopy technologies (i.e. Confocal).
- Demonstrates technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thought and accurately documents and archives all methods and experimental data relevant to intellectual property protection
Essential Functions:
- Rank Specific: Project Leaders, Senior Scientists, Research Scientist: Requires substantial professional experience of 10, 5, 3 years respectively
- Designing, implementing and executing scientific research and development projects
- Applies scientific principles and concepts to practice inventions and develop advanced technologies
- Planning, conducting and analyzing experiments, either with a definite end use (to develop new products, processes or commercial applications) or to broaden scientific understanding in general
- Designs, develops, obtains funding for, and directs research projects that are consistent with institutional, state, and national health care priorities
- Prepares grant proposals, internal reports, and manuscripts for publication in high-quality peer review journals both independently and collaboratively
- Provides service to the scientific community through reviewing manuscripts for publication and serving on editorial boards and grant review panels
- May consult with local, national, and world non-profit and government agencies
- Makes presentations to Xuyue Scientific Consulting Committee as requested
- Presents papers in oral or poster format at national and international scientific meetings
- Serves on and may chair NMT application committees and Xuyue Scientific Consulting committees based on experience and expertise
- Mentors postdoctoral fellows and junior research scientists when experience and opportunities permit
- May serve as PI for research projects
- Publishes 1-2 papers per year as a first author, 1-3 papers per year as a senior author, and 3-5 papers per year as a collaborating author
- Makes presentations at one or more internal meeting and 2-3 external meetings
- Serves on internal NMT application committees
- Processing and analyzing results and data
- Communicating results to the scientific community via published papers
- Collaborating with industry/academia to apply the results of research and develop new techniques, products or practices
- Presenting ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences, and summarizing the nature of their research, their methodology and their findings
- Teaching, demonstrating to, or supervising NMT users and training/supervising other staff
- Devising or helping to draw up new research proposals and applying for funding and grants
- Working in multidisciplinary teams (in academia, across different faculties or schools, and in industry, and across different functions of the business)
- Rely on peer reviews of their written publications and presentations in order to validate their theories and inform their research
- Needs to keep informed of the work of other scientists both within life sciences and in the wider scientific community
- Attendance at academic conferences across the world is considered part of the job, rather than an additional activity
- Maintains detailed description of all laboratory work, adhering to established guidelines
- Summarizes all work either in technical reports or technical data sheets
- Oversees the timely generation of deliverables related to independent contractors
- Provides scientific guidance and training to technical staff
- Represents the organization on projects requiring coordination with other research groups
- Presents research reports at scientific or company board meetings
